The bathroom is often one of the most frequented rooms in the house, and there are lots of great bathroom tips and tricks that can transform any bathroom into the one of your dreams (even if you’re on a budget)! Simply follow our 5 tips for creating your dream bathroom.
Nautical notes and tones
What room in your house is more fitting of nautical theme than the bathroom? Adding hues of blues and and whites can really make your bathroom a room of its own, without compromising on cleanliness or originality. All you have to do after a fresh paint coat, is add some sea shells, boat figurines and a few themed pictures, towels and bath mats to make your bathroom boat ready. No plank needed!
Strategic lighting
There’s a reason so many women take selfies in the bathroom, and it mainly has to do with the lighting. Installing bright, white lights on, or above your bathroom mirror can transform the room completely. By facing the lights rather than standing underneath them, the bathroom looks dramatically bigger, while making you look dramatically better (as if that’s even possible!). It’s truly all in the lighting!
DIY towel racks/storage
All you’ll need to add some extra storage to your bathroom is, strangely enough, an old ladder. You can either lean the ladder against the wall to use as a DIY towel rack, add some baskets and shelves to use for decoration, or even hang the ladder from the wall to use as extra hangers. The possibilities are endless, and can really help step-up your bathroom game!
Leaves and greenery
Again, the bathroom being the “water room” of the house makes it perfect for housing all your favourite plants and flowers. Plants can thrive in the bathroom’s moisture, and being so close to a sink makes watering time a breeze. Make sure your bathroom also gets lots of light, then start planting away. Ferns always work nicely, but experiment with some of your favourite greens until you’re satisfied.
Bold flooring/tiles
If you’re going to go bold in one room of your house, make it the bathroom. We love seeing people try funky tiles and flooring on the floors and in the shower. There are fun patterns, styles and even textures available. To stick with our nautical theme, we love these blue tiles, but you can have some fun with marbled, mirrored or even mismatched tiles. The choice is up to you!
