No matter the size of your home, we know you can never have enough space. Especially when it comes to rental living. Whether you’re in desperate need of freeing up some extra room, or just looking for a few ways to tidy up your home, you’re going to love this list of 6 clever DIY storage ideas for renters.
Trendy vintage trunks
What’s old is new again, and that might just mean your grandparents hand-me-downs. These oversized wooden suitcases tell us our grandparents may have been onto something – they can seriously hold a lot of stuff. With just a simple makeover, you can transform any trunk (ask your grandparents, or check your nearest vintage/second-hand store) into a beautiful, space-saving piece of art. We recommend storing linens and out-of-season clothing in them.
Over-the-door organizers
We know you’ve seen over-the-door shoe organizers before, but did you know you can store just about anything in them? Invest in a couple and hang them on the inside of every closet, bedroom and bathroom door in your home. Instead of shoes, you can slot in jewelry, accessories, toiletries, cleaning products, toys, spices, and the list goes on!
Upcycled step ladders
Did you know that a step ladder can be so much more than just a step ladder? With just a ladder (or two!), a couple pieces of leftover plywood and a quick paint job, you can have yourself a decorative and freestanding set of shelves of your own! You can use it to store books, plants, photos, knick knacks, bathroom necessities, and more! The best part is, these shelves won’t destroy your walls!
Wooden wine crates
Wine strikes again! Did you know that old wooden wine crates can double as a stylish, space-saving piece of furniture. We’ve seen them used as everything from bedroom nightstands, to kitchen organizers, and we think they’re seriously the whole package. You can display them as is, or give them a quick paint/stain job, whichever matches your decor!
Reimagined drawers/bins
Your old drawers can have a new life! If you’re getting rid of a set of drawers, or have some suitable bins lying around, you can easily utilize the space under your bed while making everything super accessible. You can use them to store shoes, out-of-season clothes, toys, socks, and more! And then you can cover them up with a bed skirt, or let them show, either way they’re the best way to make room in a small space.
Shoe rack hack
This has got to be one of our favourites. It helps you store shoes while also looking super cool, and we call that a win-win. All you’ll need is some cardboard and colourful tape, and all you’ll need to do is fold those pieces of cardboard into pyramids and decorate them with tape. You can then stack together as many pyramids as you’d like, It all depends on how many shoes you have, and we think this may just be your excuse to buy that pair you’ve been eyeing!
We hope these DIY ideas help you free up some space in your place. If you’d like to read more great tips for renters, or learn more about Medallion, please visit us at http://medallioncorp.com/home.htm.
