MY MEDALLION
Medallion held a “topping-off” ceremony March 20 for the first tower of Vision at Pat Bayly Square. This exciting long-term project is set to create real, progressive change in the area, and will act as a gateway to Downtown Ajax, providing a meaningful urban centre for activity and community interaction in the heart of Ajax.
In attendance of this most exciting event were many members of the Medallion team and partners, along with several town officials. The topping off opened by the high energy performance of The Hitmen Drumline: a marching drum band with a contemporary twist. Following the energizing spectacle of the band’s powerful grooves were the opening remarks. Aaron Bleeman, Project Manager at Medallion Developments and third generation of Bleemans, whose grandfather founded Medallion, greeted the crowd and got things started.
Next up, Mayor of Ajax Steve Parish spoke of Vision, pronouncing it an “unprecedented development [that] will act as the gateway to downtown Ajax”. Parish described the project as “Our vision of an urban, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use vibrant downtown will soon be a reality”. The Vision development will feature two rental towers and the new Pat Bayly Square, named after the first mayor of Ajax. Complementing the site will be a new civic centre, a planned venue for cultural celebrations and a public skating rink. The rink will become a reflective pool in the summer.
The signing of the wall was a landmark moment at the Topping Off party, with Medallion founder Mr. Abraham Bleeman being the first to sign! The celebration continued, as Vision at Pat Bayly Square’s ‘Building A’ has reached its full 25 storeys, with occupancy expected to be ready in the fall.The first tower will feature 272 rental residential units in one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom configurations.
Photographs were snapped as the cake, perfectly decorated for the occasion, was cut and served to all. The entire Medallion crew, our partners, and esteemed guests then enjoyed a lunch while celebrating this momentous event! Construction of the next building of the first phase is expected to start upon the completion of Building A.
