The Harbourfront Centre hosts a series of festivals all summer long, with great views of the lake and a diverse array of music and entertainment. The 10-acre stretch of land across the waterfront attracts over 12 million people a year with their great programming. Their Labour Day Weekend Festival this year is subtitled “Big Voices, Big Stages” which promises eclectic beats to dance the night away. Groove to the melodies with friends while you watch the sun set over Toronto!
Artfest at the Distillery
Art lovers will want to take time out of their weekend to stop by the Distillery District this Labour Day Weekend. Artfest at the Distillery aims to support local artists and strengthen Canadian creativity! As a bonus, the festival finds new ways to be interactive, with the creators on hand to engage with festival goers. Large scale installations that require observers to interact will give you and your friends plenty to discuss afterwards. Artists work with such wide-ranging materials as glass, jewellery, pottery, wood, and paint. Close to 10,000 exhibitors will be displaying their work, so you definitely don’t want to miss out!
H2O Boat Party
Listen to great tunes while taking in views from the lake on H2O’s Boat Party Cruise! Promising an all-star DJ lineup and first-rate accommodations aboard the Pioneer Queen, this event will be a special treat for music lovers. This 19+ inaugural event is an alternative to daytime cruises, which have been a long weekend staple for years on Toronto’s harbour. Rib, Bacon, and BBQ Fest
Food festivals offer great quality dishes for an affordable price, and this year’s Rib, Bacon, and BBQ fest is no different! Busking is defined by performing in streets or other open areas for donations. Many buskers are extremely skilled, and the annual Toronto International BuskerFest aims to celebrate their talent! Promising something for everyone, this festival recognizes the wit and spontaneity inherent to busking and features circus performers, musicians, comedians, and many other artists. As a bonus, it’s all in support of a great cause. Local charity, Epilepsy Toronto, began organizing the event 20 years ago and has been running strong since. A large fundraising source for continuing epilepsy research, the festival is billed as the ‘biggest Epilepsy event in the universe.’ Don’t miss this fun and unique event this Labour Day weekend!
Canadian Air Show
This long-running event turns 70 this year and promises more spectacular aeronautic displays this Labour Day Weekend. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds have been delighting Torontonians since their introduction, and many more military and civilian air craft are also featured. This year, the Canadian Air Show welcomes the Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows, an extremely skilled team who have performed close to 5,000 times around the world.
