When it comes to a growing city like Toronto, it can be a little overwhelming to search for rentals. There are so many neighbourhoods, and you want to be assured transit, shopping, dining, and some natural beauty are all nearby! Fear not, we’ve got a list of great GTA neighbourhoods to rent in for 2020 with all our favourites!
Ajax
Ajax offers great downtown access, proximity to greenspace, and plenty of shopping and dining nearby. The Lakeshore East GO Line and the 401 are within minutes of Vision at Pat Bayly Square, and busses pass frequently on the nearby DRT 223 and 224 lines. Finally, the 900 Pulse bus takes students directly to the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus! When it comes to going out, your options in Ajax range from traditional Irish pubs like Magwyer’s and The Portly Piper Pub to restaurants like The Greek Freak and Fine Taste Hakka. Lastly, every great GTA neighbourhood to rent in needs some greenspace! Duffins Creek Conservation Area makes for a great weekend hike, and The Ajax Rotary Park has a beautiful beach that’s a popular summer destination.
Cabbagetown
This charming East End neighbourhood is known for its Victorian row houses (the largest number of any area in North America, according to the Cabbagetown Preservation Society). Vintage clothing stores and health food stores are a colourful addition, and the list of coffee shops is almost too long to list so we’ll quickly point you to Jet Fuel Coffee, a favourite of ours which has the benefit of being a ten minute walk from 561 Sherbourne. Many eclectic restaurants are on offer, from Caribbean fare at Mr. Jerk to cute bakeries like Absolute Bakery to perennial favourite for Italian F’Amelia. On weekends, head over to Cabbagetown Farmers’ Market for delicious goodies in beautiful Riverdale Park. Best of all, Cabbagetown is steps from downtown and on the subway line!
Bayview Village
This growing North York neighbourhood is probably most famous for its Bayview Village Mall, which has everything from a spa to a health juice bar to high end labels like Stuart Weitzman and staples in the form of The Gap. Best of all, this upscale shopping centre is less than five minutes by car from 38 and 32 Carluke Crescent . The food scene is also not one to miss, with options like Tabule, which offers fast casual Middle Eastern Fare, and Good Karma, with it’s all-organic Indian cuisine. With Bayview subway right next door, this GTA neighbourhood is a great choice to rent in!
St Clair West
The stretch of St Clair from Bathurst to Dufferin is filled with amenities, including Loblaw’s, Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Mart, and two LCBO stores, all less than fifteen minutes by foot from 236 Vaughan Rd. Cedarvale Ravine offers natural beauty year-round, and the budding restaurant scene will lure you as well, including Fillipino standout Lamesa. Convenient transit is abundant, with several bus lines, the St Clair streetcar, and the Bathurst West subway station all within close proximity to this great GTA neighbourhood.
The variety within Toronto can’t be beat, and there’s a little something for everyone. You can be sure that all these neighbourhoods offer the amenities and entertainment you would expect from a cosmopolitan area like the GTA.
