Need some summer-activity inspiration or recommendations for the town of Ajax? Look no further. We’ve done the hard work for you – we’ve asked around to find some of the best things to do in the Ajax area, and here are a few of our favourite responses:
The Greenwood Conservation Area (All summer)
Become one with nature this summer. The Greenwood Conservation Area is a secluded space that runs along the banks of Duffins Creek. It has everything from hiking trails, to picnic tables – and not to mention, some of the best fishing in the area. That’s because it’s cold, clear-watered creek is a popular home for lots of rainbow trout and other fish.
Ajax’s Farmer’s Market (Mondays starting at 1)
Every Monday this summer, you can visit the Ajax Downs Racetrack’s Patio from 1-6pm for a day filled with lots of local farmers and artisans. You can get your hands on some top-quality products – like produce, baked goods, preserves, and other delicious foods – right from the people who produced them! The best part, there’s free parking and a parking-lot shuttle.
Yuk Yuk’s (All summer long)
Laugh your way through summer at Yuk Yuk’s. Gather your friends for a night out (sooner than later!), trust us, there’s no such thing as a dull moment at this comedy club. This summer, they have a line up of some of the best live comedy in Ajax, Durham, Pickering and Oshawa. And it’s also a great spot for any of your summer bachelor, bachelorette, birthday, and office parties.
Craft Brewery Day (July 23)
Beer lovers, unite! This summer, the Ajax Downs Racetrack is also hosting Craft Brewery Day. Breweries including Brock St. Brewing Company, Henderson Brewing Co., Falcon Brewing Company, Muskoka Brewery, Sir Monty’s Brewing Company, Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery, Bobcaygeon Brewing Company, and more, will be serving up samples. Cheers!
Rotary Park (All summer long)
Here’s a spot for the whole family. Spend the day playing on the beach, fishing along Lake Ontario, and exploring the Duffins Creek. In addition to some of the town’s oldest trees, Rotary Park also has a junior and senior friendly, fully-accessible playground/splash pad, and also has many special Town events and charity walks throughout the year.
Moonlight Yoga (July 24 & August 21)
Join your fellow yogis under the full moon at one of the Town of Ajax’s Moonlight Yoga sessions. The free sessions run from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the Veterans’ Point Garden on the waterfront, at Clover Ridge Drive West and Lake Driveway West. Be sure to bring your own mat, light blanket, water bottle, and your best yoga skills – but of course, all levels are welcome.
Guinness World Record Attempt – Largest Human Maple Leaf (August 25)
Become a part of history by participating in the Town’s Guinness World Record Attempt for the Largest Human Maple Leaf! In addition to the attempt, there will be games, activities, food trucks, and the first 2,000 people will receive a limited-edition wristband. Be sure to show up at 5 p.m., wearing a red t-shirt, and return back at 7 p.m. Afterwards, there will be a screening of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in the Park at 9 p.m.
