If you’re looking forward to ushering in 2022 in style, there are lots of great options to keep you entertained. Most of these are indoors, so you can stay warm and cozy to ring in the new year, but there are a couple of notable exceptions that are definitely worth venturing outdoors for. Here are just a few of our favourite Toronto New Year’s Events You Can’t Miss.
The City Of Toronto Celebration
New Year’s Eve will look a bit different again this year, but it’s no less exciting. Virtual musical performances will be streamed from venues throughout the city and a broadcast hosted live from the CN Tower. You can also look forward to enjoying high-altitude fireworks displays which will be taking place simultaneously across Toronto’s waterfront. This gives celebrants two options: enjoy the festivities safely from home or toast to 2022 while taking in the fireworks anywhere across the city that has views of Lake Ontario. (Please note that there will not be fireworks at Nathan Phillips Square or the CN Tower.) City staff are recommending celebrating the evening while supporting your favourite local restaurant and encourages everyone to share their celebrations with the whole city using #NewYearsEveTO.
New Year’s Eve At CN Tower’s 360 Restaurant
If you feel like going all-out this year to make up for all that time spent in lockdown, why not go all the way out—and up—by getting dressed up and dining out at the top of the CN Tower? Not only will you have spectacular views, you’ll enjoy an exclusive 4-course Canadian-inspired meal designed by Executive Chef John Morris that includes a glass of sparkling wine and an assortment of small bites. 360 Restaurant is known for elevating life’s special moments; what better way to ring in the new year?
New Year’s Eve Comedy Extravaganza At Massey Hall
Who couldn’t use a good laugh to blow off some steam? If laughing til it hurts sounds appealing, make sure to book your tickets for the New Year’s Eve Comedy Extravaganza at Massey Hall. Hosted by Steve Patterson, this event will feature an impressive lineup of the country’s top comedians. The show starts at 7:30 pm and wraps well before midnight, so you have time to ring in the new year however you like.
Catch A Raptors Game (From The Comfort Of Home)
What could be more electric than watching the Raptors play? Watching them play on New Year’s Eve in Toronto! See your favourite players take on the LA Clippers, in what is sure to be a memorable way to usher in a brand new year. Will Kawhi Leonard make an appearance? Hard to say. Be forewarned: ticket prices are steep for this match, so you might want to stay home, catch this one on TV, and order in from your favourite restaurant.
Toronto Midnite New Year’s Eve 5K Run And Party
Crush those resolutions by tackling at least one head-on at the stroke of midnight. The annual Toronto Midnite Run is a fun run—participants can run or walk— through Liberty Village and offers amazing views of the Toronto skyline.
